Caroline Raynor, Principal Archaeologist and Project Manager Costain Skanska JV

Thurs 4th April, 2-3pm, L29 Richmond – all welcome

Costain-Skanska JV are working on behalf of HS2 limited to deliver a dynamic and unique programme of archaeological works across 25km of route between Euston in Central London and the Colne Valley. A key site for the works is St James’s Gardens, a post medieval burial ground adjacent to Euston station. The site is the largest post-medieval burial ground in Europe to be subject to archaeological excavation and works have been ongoing since October 2017. The site has presented a unique set of engineering and archaeological challenges as well as huge opportunity for innovation.”

Caroline Raynor is Project Manager and Principal Archaeologist for Costain-Skanska JV. After completing a degree in Archaeology at the University of Liverpool, Caroline has travelled and worked on archaeological excavations in Europe and the Middle East including sites in Jordan, Turkey and Iraq. Her role within the construction industry is to engineer for archaeology across major infrastructure works by ensuring collaborative working between engineering and heritage disciplines. Her recent publications include articles for the Institute for Environmental Management, The Chartered Institute for Ergonomics and Human Factors and The Civil Engineering Contractors Association..
