Textiles, Materials and Mutability

With two decades of theoretical critique as to the nature of materials and the relationship between peoples and materials, questions remain as to how archaeologists can channel these concepts into the analysis and interpretation of artefacts they study. With this in mind, I present a series of scientific and experimental approaches that address the mechanical, sensory and mutable nature of fibres and fabrics using case studies from the Mesolithic to Iron Age in Europe.
