Dr Alastair Ruffell
Queens University Belfast
“Geological Murders, Suicides and Accidents”

This talk aims to show how geography, geology, hydrology and soil science (‘Geoforensics’) can assist in investigating homicide and suspicious death.

The talk is based entirely upon real cases from the bizarre to the shocking. Some of the equipment used to detect buried bodies will be available as well as some of the materials used in homicide trials. There are some graphic images, many of historic crimes.

*Alastair is a forensic geologist who has been involved in over 170 cases of serious crime and humanitarian searches.

Location

Richmond Building, J Floor, room J19
