Rob Sutton
Cotswold Archaeology

Cultural heritage assets are recognised by the UK government as “… an irreplaceable resource and should be conserved… so that they can be enjoyed for their contribution to the quality of life of existing and future generations.” But how does this aspiration or policy statement manifest in the planning system? Do historic buildings and buried archaeological remains genuinely influence the design of new places? Is heritage a constraint or opportunity for developers? This lecture will explore these questions with a wide range of real examples.
