Forging new connections: Professor Vincent Gaffney returns visit to Zhuhai and Hong Kong

16 Jun by James Walker

Professor Vince Gaffney recently returned from giving a series of lectures in Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland. This followed the recent visit to DAFS and the Visualising heritage group by Professor Patrick Chau, Provost at Beijing National Baptist University in Zhuhai, and a reciprocal invite by Professor Eugene Ch’ng (Dean of Culture and Creativity and the NVIDIA Centre Director).

During the trip, Vince gave a lecture in Zhuhai on the development of the Visualising Heritage group and digital heritage projects at Bradford. This was followed by a series of lectures on marine palaeolandscape research at the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre and the Hong Kong Baptist University.

The trip provided a fantastic opportunity to visit the Nvidia Centre at Zhuhai and to appreciate the impressive facilities at the university. There were also ample opportunities to discuss the opportunities for collaborative research in digital heritage and marine research between Bradford and China/Hong Kong.
