Muslim Railway Heritage Exhibition Opens at University of Bradford

18 May by James Walker

The evening of Friday 15th May saw the official opening of the Muslim Railway Heritage Exhibition in Bradford. This exhibition, which has travelled around the country, combines stories from Muslims in Rail from Britain over the last 70 years, with a showcase feature on the historical and cultural significance of the Hejaz railway, including model reconstruction of a unique, dedicated Mosque wagon, that once formed part of the train.

Staff at Theatre and the Mill and the University of Bradford hosted the opening, where we heard from Füsun Aramaz (Consul General in Manchester for the Republic of Türkiye), Samina Uddin (Author and collaborator with Muslims in Rail), Andrew Petersen (Archaeologist and Cultural Heritage researcher) and Julian Wynn (CEO of TAFF Vale Models).

The exhibition is open between 10:30 and 16:30, Tuesdays - Thursdays in Gallery 2 in the Chesham Building, is free to enter, and runs until June 12th. For more info, follow the link: https://www.bradford.ac.uk/events/whats-on/muslim-railway-heritage/
