Abstract
This year was Rob Janaway's 40th year at the University of Bradford and in this lecture he will take the opportunity to look back at past projects in archaeology, archaeological conservation, taphonomy, and forensic archaeology. Many of these exiting developments have been facilitated by the multifaceted, multi skilled team at Bradford. He was with John Hunter in starting both forensic archaeology practice and teaching at Bradford. When John left Forensic archaeology continued here. Originally, I Rob was working on archaeological burials (mainly Anglo-Saxon) using forensic research to assist interpretation this directly led to the application of archaeological methods to assist with search recovery and interpretation in forensic case work. During this seminar he will share some iconic archaeological projects (such as the crypt excavations at Christchurch Spitalfields, London) as well police case work and the recovery and identification of a soldier’s remains from World War I.
