DIg the 1904 Exhibition with SAFS and BD25

The School of Archaeological and Forensic Sciences excavation ‘Uncovering the 1904 Exhibition’ kicked off in Lister Park, Bradford, in the swealtering heat of the 30th June.

Aiming to identify the location of the 1904 Exhibitions Concert Hall, the excavation is a joint cultural event for BD25, the Council for British Archaeology ‘Festival of Archaeology’ and a student training activity.

The excavation is open to public volunteers and groups.

9th – start of excavation of the Somali Village.

12th – excavation ‘takeover’ of Lister Park Parkrun followed by talks in the Bandstand at 2pm.

13th – artist painting the scene in 1904 from the bandstand. 2-4pm The City of Bradford Brass Band playing tunes from 1904 in the Bandstand.

21st – end of excavation.
