‘Stories from Valley Parade’ - SAFS new model!

24 Jun by GAFFNEY, C

Staff and students from SAFS have created a digital copy of the Bradford City’s ground – officially it is called the University of Bradford Stadium, but it is still fondly known as Valley Parade. The creation of the model follows on from 3D projects such as Virtual Bradford and Saltaire World Heritage Site. All these projects have been made possible by investment from the Arts & Humanities Research Council’s (AHRC) Capability for Collections (CapCo) fund. In addition, at Valley Parade we captured stories from BCFC fans and embedded them into the digital copy. Embedding the stories into the 3D Valley Parade is part of University’s Bradford 2025 programme, celebrating the sense of pride, belonging and wellbeing that being a football fan brings to people in the city
On Sunday we showcased the first version of the model, which also included artistic reflections on the fans stories by talented artists from across the city. Several hundred people attended the launch at Valley Parade and provided more stories to include into the digital twin of the stadium.

The photo shows some of the team meeting up with Billy Bantam…he’s the one in the Bradford shirt, if you have trouble recognising him!
