Placement student’s work sheds light on Swandro’s Iron Age

23 Oct 2019 by DOCKRILL, SJ

Placement students working on the Swandro bones from 2019 are beginning to reveal animal exploitation in the Orcadian Iron Age. This delicate skull of a White Tailed Sea Eagle was carefully cleaned by placement student Klaudia Kvockova. A fantastic piece of work as the skull is paper thin. The placement post excavation team working alongside Klaudia are Isabel, Stefan and Wictoria, they have also discovered several bones from the now extinct Great Auk.
