Bradford archaeomagnetic research takes a trip to Mexico for the 42nd International Symposium on Archaeometry!

26 May 2018 by Harris, Samuel

As the week begins to wind down with 1 paper left to go it seems a good time to reflect on Isa2018 which has been taking place in Mérida, Mexico.

Dr Catherine Batt (presenting in the special session on “Prof. Martin Aitkin. In Memoriam”) gave a detailed presentation on Martin Aitken’s crucial building blocks for Archaeomagnetic Studies showing the impact this has had through the last 60 years.

PhD student Sam Harris presented his research in one of only two oral presentations on the application of archaeomagnetic studies.

The rest of the week has been a mixing pot of papers from across the World with 250 delegates present. Particularly interesting have been: “Cavity Detection Beneath the Pyramid of the Moon, Teotihuacan, By Means of 3D ERT” and “Applying U-Pb Geochronology in Zircon as a New Sourcing Method on Pottery from the La Morena – Envigado Archaeological Site, Colombia.”

Adios!
