BARC on tour

18 May 2018 by Eddy Faber

Last month researchers from the BARC (Biological Anthropology Research Centre), Jo Buckberry, Michelle Williams-Ward and AHRC Heritage Consortium student Rebecca Cessford (Hull/Bradford), attended the Paleopathology Meeting in Austin, Texas. Jo presented a joint paper with MSc HOP graduate Chelsea Langdon, about ongoing research into congenital conditions and consanguinity at medieval Stirling Castle, funded by Historic Environment Scotland (HES). Michelle presented the current Wellcome Trust funded project ‘Putting Flesh on the Bones’, which will make the Calvin Wells Archive more accessible to researchers. Rebecca presented a paper on TB of the hips, and how it develops in children, based on her AHRC Heritage Consortium funded PhD research into the radiograph archive from Stannington Sanatorium.
